Multitudes of March

finally facing my fear

March was a big month for me in a multitude of ways. We celebrated my niece’s first birthday, we began one of my favorite seasons of the year (helloooo, springtime!), and I finished and launched my very first art book (which still seems absolutely surreal to say…) But I also undertook one of my goals for the year after several months of putting it off. Call me a chicken, but I was INCREDIBLY nervous about this one. Although the risks involved were fairly small, trying something new is always a source of fear for me. I like to be good at things right off the bat, and I tend to get a little put-out when I’m not. You’d think I’d be more used to failure as it happens all the time for me, yet here we are…

Anyhoo, I finally embarked on the journey of rebinding a book! Although my bibliophile spirit was absolutely cringing from having to rip off the original cover, I couldn’t be more happy with the end result. Book-binding is such a fun process, and it’s a form of creativity so unlike anything else I’ve tried.

Were there loads of bumps and hiccups along the way? Absolutely, and you can giggle with me about them in this process video! Are there a few wrinkles and paint smudges? Of course. But I had SO MUCH FUN with this project, and it’s such a joy to have a one-of-a-kind version of my favorite book on my shelf!
