Y’all know, I’m ALL about the creative practice. Whether you’re a visual artist like me, surrounded by paintbrushes and colored pencils, or whether you’re a photographer, baker, poet, or musician, I FIRMLY believe that your creative practice deserves your INTENTION.

It’s easy when we’re working on a project to just jump right in on auto-pilot mode (and there are times when this can be necessary), but I believe our creative practice deserves for us to be more present in it. One of my favorite ways to ground myself in my creative practice and make it more of an experience is by engaging my other senses. It’s not just about noticing the grit of the watercolor paper, or the velvet-y feel of the paintbrush in my hand.

It’s about lighting a candle that fits the vibe of my project (like this chocolate-y Hall of Antiquities Mythologie candle that was HIGHLY inspirational while I painted this coffee-themed sketchbook spread!), brewing a nice cup of tea to sip, turning on a whimsical Studio Ghibli soundtrack. Even setting up a few of my foraged Special Somethings (iykyk 😉) around my desk while I work!

There are LOADS of ways we can turn our creative practice into a fully immersive experience that invites us into the present and focuses us in on our project. I want you to think outside the box. What ways can YOU be more present in your creative practice? If you want to share them with me, just hit the reply button! I love chatting with y’all! 💛
