Inspiration is EVERYWHERE.
It’s in our morning walks. It’s in the conversations with our friends. It’s in the books we read and the music we listen to and the shows we watch. It’s there when we open our senses to receive it and let it guide our own creative practice.
Today I want to share a few of the things and people that are currently inspiring me. (And if you have a moment to respond to this newsletter, I’d love to know what’s inspiring YOU!)
“On the Nature of Daylight” by Max Richter has been an almost daily listen lately. I can’t quite put my finger on why this song touches me so much, but every time I hear it, I just get lost in the strings. There’s a sweet wistfulness to it, a peaceful melancholy that I LOVE. It feels like saying goodbye to your best friend without knowing when you’re going to see them again. You’re so grateful for their friendship and the love they bring to your life, but all those good things make it so much more anguishing to part with them.
Eva Nys— This lady is an absolutely INCREDIBLE dance photographer! Y’all know I absolutely LOVE sketching ballet dancers (and she does have some wonderful photos to sketch from!), but it’s Eva herself who inspires me. You see, Eva doesn’t just photograph dancers, she dances, too. She pirouetted into dance as an adult, which I think is absolutely AMAZING. There’s such a “you’re too old to start” mindset when it comes to the arts, but Eva is living proof that, if you’re drawn to something, there’s no reason not to try. Be a beginner. Be the oldest one in the room. Be willing to try and learn and fail and try again. Life’s too beautiful not to.

Hannah Nicholls— This artist embodies ALL the cozy and cute vibes I love. She sketches and paints the most lovely little animals with the sweetest little expressions. Every single thing she makes is jam-packed with the love and joy that could only come from a creative. She inspires me to always find joy in my creative practice and to keep sketching the things that make me smile most.

Have a favorite song that’s inspiring you? A poem you love? An artist you admire? I’d love to hear about it! 💛
