I think sometimes we get a little too caught up in other people’s gardens to focus on what we truly want to grow in ours (I mean this from a LIFE standpoint, not an actual garden standpoint… I know FOR SURE I’m going tomatoes this year 😂) It’s easy to see the wonderful things other people are growing and to believe those things should be a part of our garden, too.

From a business standpoint, my garden has become very overgrown. I’ve implemented far too many pursuits and given few of them my genuine attention. I see the income streams of other creative businesses and think “hey, maybe I should try that, too!” But at the end of the day, all the many plants in my garden have grown far too wild and are slowly choking each other out.
Lately, I’ve been meditating on the idea of stewarding my own garden, both in my business and in my life as a whole. Honing in on the things that matter most to me. Aligning my life to live in accordance with my values. Making space in my creative practice to pursue what most excites me.
I think we’re always on the journey of figuring it out (which is a topic I dove deeper into in this video!) We’re going to make a lot of wrong moves and grow some things that don’t fit very well in our garden. But along the way, we learn some pretty amazing lessons. We learn what our priorities truly are. We learn what elements of creativity we adore the most. We learn who we’re supposed to be. And as we go, we grow a pretty wonderful and unique garden of our own.
